Looks like the HTC Incredible's release to the Verizon Wireless shelves is VERY soon. It has appeared on the store's inventory lists. Normally, the release just just around the corner when it hits these lists. Maybe next week at the CTIA Show?
Come on Verizon... give it to us!
Nexus One and other Smartphones
The lines are getting blurrier each day... the lines that dictate what a phone can do and what a computer can do. And, we Americans are loving it!When we think of Smartphones we think of a mobile phone using Windows Mobile, Google Android or iPhone Operating System. These incredible devices offer an insane number of apps, a GPS, internet access at the click of a button, games, music, videos, the list goes on...
Michelle Gilbert at Verizon Wireless said, "They're looking to use their phone for more than just talking." I have to concur. As our lives become busier and busier, we need more and more at the touch of a key - why shouldn't that key be on our cell phone?
Now that we KNOW we need a smartphone to be effective and productive in life, it's time to decide WHICH smartphone is right for us.
While Apple's iPhone has been a popular choice in the past, there are several competitors who are willing to do just about anything to get your business.
The iPhone has a multi-touch interface, a minimalistic style and tons of apps in their online app store.
The Blackberry has been optimized for wireless email use and is quite useful to businesses and their employees. Most of these phones have the QWERTY keyboard separate from the screen. The Blackberry Storm features a touchscreen to lend some variety to their line of smartphones.
Newer on the scene is the Motorola Droid. It is called the touchscreen top dog. It's a Verizon Wireless offering that runs on the Google Android operating system.
There are so many options for us to choose from these days... so, how can we make the best choice?
Read up on reviews (like this one), call your friends to see what they are using and how they like their service - also stop in at your local smartphone dealers and see for yourself. Most stores will allow you to change your phone out within 30 days if you are unhappy with it.
Wait a minute! There is yet another contender in this race...
(The angels sing)
The Nexus One.
Nexus One is the newest Google Android phone on the market. It was released less than one month ago. Some of it's boasts are that it runs a quite powerful one-gigahertz Snapdragon processor using a 3.7 inch screen. The colors appear to be brighter, it's a step up from the other smartphones at this point in the game.
The pocket-sized phone that accesses the internet, your email, favorite videos, games and song choice is so convenient. In today's world, convenience is a huge bonus.
With that, you have your fair share of options in Smartphone shopping - good luck with that.
Google's Nexus One - New Pricing Options
Nexus One Customers are going to be even happier! Those who paid $379 for their Nexus One will be receiving a $100 refund from Google. NOTE: This only applies to the customers who paid $379 for their phone.
This price cut is due to Google's desire to limit criticisms about Nexus One purchase options. Apparently, these concerns/criticisms were posted on the official Android Device Support Forums. Go Google! (they really are wonderful AND they LISTEN to their customers)
Here is a list of the current pricing options: (low to high)
$179 for a new two year activation from T-Mobile
$279 for those who meet the above requirements mentioned (this is for T-Mobile Customers)
$529 unlocked
In case you need to learn more about what it means to have a phone unlocked, like I did, here's the scoop: Some providers "lock" their phones, this means that they have programmed their phones to only work with the SIM (Subscriber Information Module) issued by their company. When you "unlock" your phone you are choosing to allow your phone to work on other networks with any SIM.
Thanks Google for making your Nexus One phone available to us with more purchase options.
